In this section, we invite and welcome
members of Clifton's culinary community, which includes; those of
you who enjoy cooking, restaurateurs, and caterers, to share some
of their favorite recipes.
Send your recipes by e-mail to nveliky@cliftoninsider.com. To get
things started I will share one of my favorite recipes, one that
my family has learned to love making as much as eating:
Anytime Oatmeal Bars, you will need:
1 cup (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flower
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt (optional)
3 cups of old fashioned oats or quick oats (not instant)
1 cup raisins (you can also add nuts, chocolate chips etc.)
Follow these simple directions:
1. Heat over to 350F
2. Beat together margarine and sugars until creamy
3. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well
4. Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; mix well.
5. Stir in oats and raisins; mix well.
6. Pour mixture into 13''x9'' baking pan
7. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown
8. Cool
9. Cut into squares and Enjoy!
This snack is great anytime and is made with wholesome
ingredients; note there are no chemical additives or reservatives.
For a real treat invite the whole family to help in the kitchen.
The Anytime Oatmeal Bars make for some quality family time too.
