carrying
on the same shoulder where the child
was sleeping. She turned around
and was confronted by a mugger who
ripped the pocketbook off her shoulder
and ran away. Luckily neither the
mother or child was injured. Within
a short period of time after the
robbery, the victim's fiancee, mother
and sister began receiving threatening
phone calls from her cell phone
which had been inside her pocketbook
when it was stolen. The caller demanded
the victims PIN# for her debit card
so that he could make withdrawals
from her account. He said he would
return and kill the victim if they
did not comply. The following day,
a 54 year old woman was walking
home on West 2nd Street, when she
was accosted by a perpetrator from
behind who knocked her to the ground
and stole her purse and fled in
a waiting car. Her purse contained
her passport and airlines tickets.
She was suppose to leave for a trip
abroad the next day. Detective Captain
Robert Rowan noted that “The
Clifton Police Department takes
street crime seriously”.
As a result of going above and beyond
the Clifton Police Department got
their men. Det. Sgt. Warren Lee,
Detective Edgar Ruiz, and Detective
Robert Tillie went to work and eventually
arrested Keshawn Brown, age 18,
of Paterson and charged him with
the Hadley Avenue crime. Det. Douglas
Miller noticed similarities between
the Hadley Avenue crime and the
attack the next day on West Second
Street. After further questioning.
Brown admitted to six other similar
Robberies in the city of Paterson.
He is being held on $200,000. bail.
Mr. Brown's accomplice, Fabian Frater,
age 18, who is also from Paterson.
was apprehended by Det. William
Frank, and Det. Mike Adamo. Rowan
noted “We are pleased to make
these arrests because of the pernicious
nature of these crimes”. |
