Clifton's
Future Is Ours ...
If we want it to be...
Opportunity is knocking in Clifton and it’s all in how you
look at it.
Most of the farms and vacant lots have all been
developed. The swarms of World War II Servicemen returning from
the war have all settled down. Even the Cliffs which rose so majestically
and inspired our city’s name are nothing more than a memory.
Things change and most change is good. It is a sign of life, evidence
of good things to come.
Do you remember the “Clifton Casino”, the “Sisco
Dairy Farm” complete with resident cows? How about the sheep
grazing on the corner of Clifton and Paulison Avenues waiting to
be sheared? Let’s not forget Clifton’s own predecessor
to a nationally known chain, Rosemarie’s Donuts. Did you know
that Clifton Avenue Extension was once an onion farm? An awful lot
has changed and those days are gone forever. So are many of the
men and women that worked so hard to build Clifton into the great
city we enjoy today.
Now it’s our turn, we need to explore the
possibilities of THE CLIFTON RENAISSANCE.
Clifton is a changing community. A city in transition,
a city in the midst of a rebirth, but just where Clifton will land
at the end of the renaissance is up to all of us.
Our seniors did a great job planning and building
Clifton. Now we must plan and build on the strong foundation set
many years ago. Just as the family house needs alterations to keep
up with the times, our city too needs some tender loving care.
The Clifton Insider is a part of the Clifton Renaissance.
We see Clifton and the challenges we face as a community as something
to make us a stronger and better city, a city to celebrate.
As we embark on Clifton’s journey into the future The Clifton
Insider will act as your eyes and ears along the way; reporting
on events that make us a community, and on events that help form
our community. Controversial when we have to be, we will do whatever
it takes to deliver the news to you in an easy to understand and
unbiased fashion.
We will inform and entertain and always report
what we know to be the truth.
Yes, we are the new publication in town, and some
may ask why another? Why, because one of our basic constitutional
rights is freedom of the press. There is a lot of good in Clifton
and someone has to write about it.
Strong lines of communication bring a community
together. Our pledge to you, our readers, is to bring those lines
to you in each edition.
We hope you enjoy the work we have put into this,
our premier issue, and look forward to publishing our second issue
on January 5, 2005.
All of us at the Clifton Insider wish you and yours
all the best this Holiday Season and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
